Power and Associates is based on the survey of 80 thousand owners of new cars purchased in late 2008 - early 2009, and takes into account the number of breakdowns, malfunctions and defects in the machines, which were discovered during the first 90 days of ownership. The average failure for new cars in the U.S. is 108 defects per 100 vehicles. And for American brands, this figure is 112 defects per 100 vehicles, and for foreign - 106 defects per 100 vehicles. However, the leader of the rating, brand Lexus, the number of defects is much lower: only 84 cases for every 100 machines.Make Toyota (excluding cars, Lexus) has won first place in four categories, and its sub-brand Scion has won in the category of sports cars. Second place in the reliability of machines got brand new Porsche, and the third - an American brand Cadillac. Mark Ford has taken only eighth place in the overall rankings, but the model proved to be the most reliable in three categories.It is worth noting that the rating reliability is not new cars (2006 model year), which was published in March, the first two places were taken by brands Buick and Jaguar, the company ahead of Lexus.
