The engine 2JZ-GE, established on IS, was very popular among tuning studio in the USA as it was 6-titsilindrovym. Also popularity added that this engine could be easily changed on similar 2JZ-GTE from the previous generation Toyota Supra. The modified engines 2JZ-GTE developed capacity to 1000 h.p.
In Japan updating RS200 because of the best controllability (the powerful engine was the reason for that easy, but) was more popular. There is a big variety tuning spare parts for RS200, except that, the machine block of this updating coincides with that at SW20 Toyota MR2 and ST202 Toyota Celica, tuning company Yamaha and offering technology double VVT-i.

Toyota Team Europe (TTE) the first has let out updated version IS 200, and in some years in USA RMM has let out new version IS 300. Firm MillenWorks has constructed Lexus IS 430 which has been exposed in 2003 at exhibition SEMA in Las Vegas, Nevada. As its basis has served IS 300 with the engine 4.3 L V8 from Lexus GS. In Europe TTE has let out "the charged" version of sedan IS 430 4.3 L V8 with the engine capacity of 405 h.p. (298 kw), capable to be dispersed 0-100 km/h for 4.5 seconds. Also TTE has let out тюнингующий a set for IS 200, lifting capacity to 204 h.p. (158 kw).
At the same time Japanese tuning companies HKS, Blitz, Top Secret, Sard, Power Enterprise and own racing department Toyota have developed set of spare parts, including turbo, systems with нитро and even the complete sets entirely changing behaviour and shape of the car.
"Charged" updating RS200 also is used by set of the companies (including TRD — Toyota Racing Development) at carrying out of a car racing in Asia.

New IS 250 2006 modelling years, are equipped with V figurative engine 4GR-FSE capacity of 208 h.p. c Dual VVT-i. On it 6 step automatic transmission with possibility  switchings is established. A drive on back wheels. Dispersal to 100 km/h the maximum speed occupies 8,1 сек, of 220 km/h. To Russia it is delivered in five complete sets: «Comfort», «Executive», «Premium», «Sport» and «Luxury»

History

The first generation Altezza (XE10) has been let out in Japan in October, 1998. Altezz has come in the stead Toyota Corona Exiv/Toyota Carina ED, but unlike predecessors has received instead of forward, a back drive.
In 1999 car has appeared in Europe under mark Lexus IS 200.
In 2001 in the North America — under mark Lexus IS 300.
In 2005 the second generation of the car has been let out.
